Duvet without a cover beats traditional duvet: a new trend takes over the market
Partager
A new type of duvet is taking over the Netherlands and slowly the rest of Europe: the duvet without a cover. Where traditional duvets with a separate cover were the norm for years, search volume for this innovative variant, the duvet without a cover, has now overtaken search behaviour for the classic duvet. The trend shows a clear shift in search behaviour within the bedding market.
What is a duvet without a cover?
A duvet without a cover doesn't require a separate duvet cover to use. It's fully washable, hygienic and a lot more maintenance-friendly than a traditional duvet. Consumers save time, effort and frustration. It's a product that fits the trend towards convenience and sustainability.
Data shows growth
According to recent analysis, consumers are searching more actively for a duvet without a cover than for a regular duvet. With an average search volume of 33,800 searches per month, the duvet without a cover beats the search behaviour for the traditional duvet (27,650 searches per month).

A new market opened
Since Zelesta introduced the duvet without a cover in the Netherlands in 2020, several other providers have since followed the trend. At Zelesta, we're proud to have opened up the market and to see that more and more people are choosing convenience, comfort and hygiene. It's great to see that this innovation is having a real impact on the bedding segment.
